About Howling Wolf Furs

My name is Sue Moore and I am the designer and creator of all that you see on this site. I made my first pair of mukluks by hand for my son in 1983 and have not stopped since! I always keep trying new designs and most items are one of a kind. My husband, Dan, is now helping out full time in the shop and we travel the state of Alaska year round selling our wares at local art and craft shows.

We only sell what we make and have a good inventory on hand to sell. I also do custom orders and will work with your fur as well. We love what we do and hope that you enjoy it also.

We guarantee all our work and are "Made in Alaska" certified.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions, comments, or custom order requests.

Welcome 2020!

Winter is definitely here with below zero temps and cloudless skies. Get out your fur and wear it while you can. It’s beautiful and will  keep you warm!

A new decade, and probably my last decade for business. I have reinvented my creations  numerous times and still do so. I have made a few changes to some old patterns that I made 30 years ago. One of those changes is the ladies mitten pattern. I took a bit off the top and made them a bit wider.

I have also come up with an affordable leather and fur boot. These boots are mid calf in height and can be made in different furs and designs. I can even make a boot with wolf for a reasonable price. ($400-450) I have also been using black bear, coyote and fox. Beaver and otter would be nice as well. Just about any fur would do well.

Different trims and different furs make your boot one of a kind. I like this boot for its versatility. Great for the car and town as well as walking. I've been wearing mine in the work shop since the floor is cold. I really hate cold feet.  Makes the whole body cold. I also made a custom set of mukluk soles that takes out some of that extra room in the toe box. I really like it and will be incorporating that design more.

Our winter schedule has changed this year. Our venue for Fur Rondy and Iditarod start in Anchorage is not offering spaces this year. It’s really too bad. People will miss the variety of vendors.  Great place for folks to warm up as well. Please call us if you are wanting fur! At least we still have Nome.

With all this “extra” time on our hands we will be creating one of a kind items. We have a bunch of otter tails and wolf legs ready to plate together to make cool stuff.

I like to make purses as well as boots, blankets and pillows. Dan has been working on one of a kind trims for me to use as well as getting all the linings ready to help us stay ahead of the game.

Our show room is open most every day. 10-5:00 or by appointment. We have plenty of warm things to choose from. A fur ruff for your parka or jacket is amazingly warm as well as hats, mitts and scarves.

Of course we always have plenty of footwear, too, of all sizes.  Please call if you are making special trip out to the Gulch. We don’t want to miss you.

As always, stay wam (or call us) and go enjoy some winter activities.

Sue and Dan
